  • In July 2008, Prof. Su served as a topical editor of Optics Letters, and Dr. Ye would serve as a session chair of APOC08 and a TPC member of APCC09
  • On April 29th 2008, the work on "High-rate Data Buffering in Silicon Nano Photonic Devices" was highlighted in the Research Overviews by NSFC
  • In March 2008, Prof. Yikai Su accepted invitations from international conferences to give invited talks on slow-light in silicon waveguides (OECC, WOCC, ICOCN) and 100G transmission (ICAIT), respectively.
  • In March 2008, the OSA student chapter of SJTU has been awarded a 2008 Activity Grant for the Program: Show our chapter at international conferences.
  • In February 2008, Ph.D. student Qingjiang Chang went to NEC Labs America for joint research works.
  • In November 2007, Junming Gao demonstrated a 100G ETDM transmission prototype, this system features low cost, and large tolerance to residual chromatic dispersion and PMD.
  • On Oct 19th 2007, the slow light workshop of IEEE/OSA AOE organized by Prof. Yikai Su was held in Shanghai, with ~50 attendees
  • In July 2007, the student chapter of OSA in Shanghai Jiao Tong University was established
  • In July 2007, the research works on OVPN (Yue Tian), RoF (Qingjiang Chang), and silicon-based optical signal processing (Fangfei Liu), attracted invitations from IEEE LEOS07, IEEE/OSA AOE07, and OFC07/APOC07/OECC08, respectively
  • In April 2007, after Prof. Su and Dr. Ye visited UC Davis, Prof. Yoo commented on OTIP "very exciting research results!!"
  • In March 2007, Prof. Yikai Su accepted an invitation to present recent works on slow light at OFC07 workshop; Dr. Tong Ye became a TPC member of ICCCAS (Japan)
  • In March 2007, Prof. Yikai Su became a senior member of IEEE
  • In March 2007, a book titled "High-speed fiber-optic transmission systems" authored by Prof. Yikai Su, Prof. Lufeng Leng (CUNY) and Dr. Tong Ye got sponsored by the publishing house of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
  • In 2006, OTIP group published 7 papers in IEEE PTL, and filed 6 Chinese patents and 1 US patent. Prof. Alan Willner commented OTIP: 'your research works are EXTREMELY impressive'
  • In December 2006, OTIP was granted the first class natural science award by the Ministry of Education; the lab also received a grant of 863 High-Tech program of China
  • In December 2006, Dr. Ye became a TPC member of ChinaCom 2007
  • In December 2006, a US patent was filed based on the work by Cishuo Yan and Xinyu Xu
  • In December 2006, 3 submissions to OFC2007 were accepted, 2 of which for oral presentation.
  • In December 2006, Dr. Ye passed the defense for junior faculty fund of SJTU.
  • In July 2006, Ye Tong, postdoctor of UCHK, joined OTIP.
  • In June 2006, three submissions to ECOC got accepted, this is the second time of 100% acceptance ratio since OFC2006.
  • In April 2006, OTIP received research grants from Fok Ying Tung fund and Key
    project of Ministry of Education.
  • In 2005, OTIP has filed 8 Chinese patents and 1 US patent. The lab has published 5 papers in top journals in the field (IEEE PTL and JLT etc.), as well as 3 conference papers in OFC’05/ECOC’05. 8 submissions got accepted by OFC’06 (2 of them are joint publications with Bell Lab and Georgia Tech ). Lilin Yi, Xiangqing Tian, Hao He, Yi Dong and Yikai Su will attend OFC’06 and present papers.
  • In 2005, Prof. Yikai Su serves on the technical program committee of IEEE LEOS05, LEOS06, APOC05, ICOCN 2005, ICCAS05 and COIN06..
  • In Nov. 11, 2005, workshop on optical transmission and equalization (WOTE) sponsored by Sino-German cernter was held at the Academic Center of SJTU. 4 Ph.D students of OTIP, including Yue Wang, Peigang Hu, Xiangqing Tian and Lilin Yi, presented papers at the workshop.
  • From Nov. 6 to Nov. 10, 2005, Hao He et al. attended APOC which was held at the International Conference Center of Shanghai and gave talks.
  • From Sep. 25 to Sep. 29, 2005, Ph.D student Yue Wang attended ECOC held in UK.
  • From Mar. 6 to Mar. 11, 2005, Prof. Yikai Su, Prof. Weisheng Hu, Prof. Yaohui Jin and Dr. Weiqiang Sun attended OFC in US.
  • In 2004, Prof. Yikai Su received research grants from the National New Century Program, National Natural Science Foundation, Shanghai Optical Science and Technology program, and Shanghai Rising Star Program.
