The Optical Transport and Information Processing laboratory (OTIP) plays a pivotal role in photonics research in China. The research areas of the lab cover high-speed optical communication systems and devices, nonlinear optical information processing, novel network architectures and enabling modules, and inter-disciplinary study of photonics and biology. The lab is well equipped with advanced optical and electronic equipments and components worth millions of RMB. The lab is top-ranking in China and similar to those top 30 schools in US universities.
Some of the featured ongoing research projects include slow lights in Nano-scale Silicon devices for buffering, Ultra-high-speed transmission systems (100GE systems, RoF) and modulation formats, all-optical virtual private networks (VPNs), and DNA photonic logic.
