Biography

 

Yue Tian enrolled in the Teaching Reform Class (an honor class for gifted students chosen from all over China) in Shanghai Jiao Tong University exempt from the National Entrance Examination in May 2002, thanks to the prizes he had won in the national Olympic competitions on physics and mathematics in high school. He received the B.S. degree from the Dept. of Electronic Engineering in Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ. in 2006, and was admitted in the graduate program exempt from the entrance exams. He won the second prize of Shanghai division in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest in 2005.

In Oct. 2005, he joined the State Key Lab of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks,and focused his research interest on the all-optical virtual private networks (VPNs) in optical access networks and optical modulation formats. During the research in the State Key Lab, he has authored or coauthored 15 papers on prestigious international journals and conferences, such as Optics Express (OE), Photonics Technology Letters (PTL), Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT), Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC), and European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), and got five Chinese patents pending. He won the first prize in the graduate scholorship competition of EE Dept. in two years straight, and was awarded Intel Scholarship for 2006 academic year and Pan Wen-Yuan scholarship for 2007 academic year. He is a student member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Optical Society of America (OSA), and serves as a Vice-President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University student chapter of the OSA. He also serves as the reviewer of IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics (JSTQE), Optics Letters (OL) and Optics Express (OE).
